Hummingbirds

Parent-Child Program

Join us for our new monthly program for toddlers and caregivers!

Our Hummingbirds group is a program for children age 1-2.5 and their caregivers. The Hummingbirds will meet one morning a month during our typical school year. Our goal is to connect children too young for our daily program with nature and to build community amongst like-minded families. A class session will reflect the rhythm of our bigger friends’ school day with time for free play and nature exploration, a circle time full of songs and stories, and a short wander through one of our beautiful natural spaces.

Priority placement in our preschool program will be given to those who participate in this class, once children become of age.

Program Hours:
Our Hummingbird program runs from September- May on one Wednesday per month, 9:00 am- 10:30 am.

Program Days: We will meet on the first Wednesday of every month with the exception of November when we will meet on the second Wednesday. Class days are September 6th, October 4th, November 8th (note the change!), December 6th, January 3rd, February 7th, March 6th, April 3rd, and May 1st.

Locations: Classes will rotate through a selection of locations with abundant natural space throughout Santa Barbara and Goleta, mirroring the location of our yearly program. Details and directions will be provided each month.

Tuition: Tuition for the year is $250. This includes all classes and materials. Tuition must be paid up front and is non-refundable. There are no refunds for missed classes.

Our intention is to be a small cohesive class together rather than a drop-in program. If spaces are still available, we will open them up on a monthly basis to the general public for a drop-in fee of $29/ class. Additional children with the same caregiver may join for $100 per year. Children under 6 months are free.

Objective: Our main objective is to begin (or continue!) to allow children unstructured time in nature in an environment in which they can experience autonomy and empowerment. Class facilitators will encourage parents to allow children as much freedom as possible to explore our materials, space, and each other. We are focused on building relationships of all kinds and promoting uninterrupted play.

For Enrollment: All enrollment is through this site. Enrollment requires payment and completion of the prompted form offered at online check out and our liability form. Once all required items have been received, families will receive an email confirming their space within 48 hours.
